Open Loops

Open Loops?

If you can’t shut off your brain, you have open loops to close.

An “open loop” can be a message to respond to, a decision you must make, or anything that is pending. By keeping these “open,” you drain your energy and willpower and limit your ability to focus.

The problem with open loops in our business is that they live inside our heads and make a nest.

So what do we do about it?

  • Close your open loops!
  • Have that conversation
  • Make that decision
  • Do the next right thing

The top 1% make it a habit to close open loops daily. The result? Clarity, focus, and consistent decision-making.

An empty mind is more creative and productive.

A Simple Way to Close Loops

  • At the end of each day, write down every open loop on your mind.
  • Decide on the next step for each one, even if it’s small.
  • Handle the quick items right away.
  • Put the rest on your calendar so your brain can let them go.

A clear list leads to a clear head, and a clear head wins the day.
