Successful thinking.
David Schwartz said it well:
“Where success is concerned, people are not measured in inches or pounds, or college degrees, or family background; they are measured by the size of their thinking.”
From Maxwell: When Jack Welch would tell a GE employee that an ongoing relationship was more important than the sale of a single product: bigger picture.
When parents are fed up with poor grades or other difficulties and one reminds the other: this is temporary. Bigger picture.
Why not think bigger?
How? Maxwell says:
- Don’t strive for certainty
- Learn from every experience
- Gain insight from a variety of people
- Give yourself permission to expand your world
Big-Picture Thinking in Real Estate
- The agent who sees a lifetime client instead of a single deal.
- The recruiter who builds a relationship over two years instead of pushing for a decision this month.
- The broker-owner who invests in training during a slow quarter because it pays off in the next one.
Try This
The next time a deal falls apart or a recruit says no, ask: “Will this matter in a year? What’s the bigger picture here?”

Framework: This post is part of Action Produces Data, the coaching framework for consistent production: take the next right action, track it and let the results, not opinions, guide what you do next.
