Consistency Is Undefeated

Consistency Is Undefeated

Consistency is undefeated.

Talent wins some days. Motivation wins some weeks. A great market wins some years. But over a career, nothing beats the person who simply keeps showing up and doing the work, whether they feel like it or not.

Why consistency beats intensity

Most of us overrate the big push and underrate the steady rhythm. We plan the blitz: fifty calls on Saturday, a marathon recruiting day, a weekend of catch-up. Those days feel productive, and sometimes they are. But they rarely repeat, and what doesn’t repeat doesn’t compound.

Five conversations a day, every day, is 1,200 conversations a year. One heroic day a month gets you a fraction of that, plus the exhaustion and the guilt of the days in between. The math is not close.

The same is true for a brokerage. The offices that keep their best agents aren’t the ones with the flashiest annual event. They’re the ones where the leader checks in every week, coaches every week, and recruits every week, in good markets and bad.

Consistency is built, not born

I hear it all the time: “I’m just not a consistent person.” I don’t buy it. Consistency isn’t a personality trait you either have or don’t. It’s a record you build, one finished commitment at a time. I wrote more about that in Consistency Is Not a Personality Trait. It Is a Memory.

Three ways to build it this week

  1. Shrink the commitment. Pick a daily standard so small you can’t talk yourself out of it. Three calls before 10 a.m. beats a 30-call goal you skip by Wednesday.
  2. Put it on the calendar. If it doesn’t have a time, it’s a wish. Block it like a listing appointment and protect it the same way.
  3. Track the streak, not the result. Results lag. Streaks are within your control today. Mark every day you do the thing, and don’t break the chain.

So, how consistent are you right now?
